Waterford World Wars newspaper archive project

This one's a cracker - thanks to Waterford City Council for letting me know about it!

Waterford City Council has been working for some time on an online database project entitled Waterford Newspapers War Archive World War I and World War II. It is a fully searchable database of news clipping from 1914-1918 and 1939-1947 - articles can also be browsed from a list of headings. Well worth a look at www.waterfordcity.ie/library/wararchive/searcharticles.aspx

Incidentally, I have just been looking through the National Archive of Ireland's new WW1 soldiers' wills collection at http://soldierswills.nationalarchives.ie (see launch report at http://britishgenes.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/national-archives-of-ireland-major-new.html). Some 9000 WW1 servicemen's wills are there, from all over Ireland, and some of these include letters and other notes to family members.

One line struck me in particular from the record of a Private Patrick Murray of the 2nd Battalion of the Leinster Regiment: "...mother do not frit for me for with the help of God I will come home".  Private Curry was killed in action in France on October 20th 1914.

UPDATE: Thanks once again to Waterford City Council for clarifying the sources for its newspaper project - "The Waterford News" 1913-18 and the "Waterford News and Star" 1914-18
